Victoria and Tristan presented at OCCI day. Both did a great job. Victoria was awarded a prize for one of the best 15 minute talks. Congratulations to all that presented!

Lots has been going on these past few months. Kate was awarded the 2025 Polanyi Prize in Chemistry. Victoria was awarded an NSERC CGRS-D. Congratulations Victoria! The lab is also getting lots of new equipment! A new glovebox recently arrived and has been keeping us busy.

January 2025: The Marczenko Lab is moving to a bigger space! We are now located in SC426 (Steacie Building).
March 2025: Our CFI-JELF application was successful. Lots of new infrastructure to be purchased in the very near future.
May 2025: Congratulations to Victoria for being awarded an NSERC-CGS-M!
June 2025: We are hosting the Canadian Chemical Crystallography Workshop (CCCW) on Carleton University campus this year. We are all very excited for a week full of crystal structures and lots of learning.
June 2025: Victoria and Kate are in Quebec City, QC, for the Can-UK symposium on Inorganic chemistry. The whole group is attending CSC in Ottawa, ON, this month. Lots of oral and poster presentations - check us out!
August 2025: Congratulations to James for defending his M.Sc. thesis. James is the first Marczenko lab graduate. Go James!

Jan-April 2024: There was lots of great new this semester when it comes to awards and scholarships!
- Congratulations to James and Victoria for winning the Fluorosense Inc. Scholarship.
- Congratulations to Adriana, who was awarded an NSERC USRA to conduct research through the McGill Biomedical Research Accelerator (MBRA) summer program this summer.
- Kate was awarded funding through a CU Research Development Grant, NSERC DG, and NRC New Beginnings Initiative.
April 2024: Congratulations to Marshall and Jerry on excellent poster presentations of their I-CUREUS (Marshall) and Honours (Jerry) research!
May 2024: James and Victoria did a great job presenting their research at OCCI (Ottawa Carleton Chemistry Institute) day. Victoria was awarded one of the prizes for best talk. Congratulations!
May/June 204: James attended the 15th Canadian Chemical Crystallography Workshop in Winnipeg, MB.
May 2024: Tristan Lacasse joins the group as a M.Sc. student. He is working on a collaborative project with the National Research Council of Canada. Souyma joins as a MITACS exchange student from India. Kailey joins as an ICE student from York U, and is co-supervised with Prof. Barry here at Carleton. Welcome!
June 2024: Kate, Victoria, and James, are attending the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC 2024) in Winnipeg this year. Kate's talk is Monday at 10:40am in Room 2G East. Victoria and James will be presenting posters during the Tuesday evening poster session.

July 2024: The group's recent Chem. Comm. publication has been highlighted in their blog (https://blogs.rsc.org/cc/2024/07/10/chemcomm-milestones-kate-marczenko/). Check it out to learn more about research in the Marczenko lab and what we hope to accomplish over the next few years!
August 2024: Kate starts maternity leave and welcomes a baby girl to her family.
Dec 2024: Congratulations to Victoria for a successful comprehensive exam and transfer to the Ph.D. program!

Kate starts at Carleton University on June 1, 2023. We are hiring motivated students for start dates within the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years.
June 2023: James and Victoria came to visit the new lab, and the Marczenko lab and Barry lab had their first joint social.
September 2023: The Marczenko Lab welcomes James, Jerry, and Marshall to the lab! James is our first M.Sc. student, Jerry is our first Honors project student, and Marshall is our first I-CUREUS project student. We are all very exciting for the upcoming semester. Update: We also welcome Adrianna to the lab, who is our second I-CUREUS project student.
December 2023: The Marczenko Lab celebrates the holidays with pizza in Little Italy.
